Mahasamadhi Anniversary 2017, Part 1

Last modified October 23, 2017

Part 1 of musical performances from the 2017 Sri Chinmoy Mahasamadhi Anniversary. In this section, we have three groups – Sangit Surabhi, Vedic Fire, and Kamalakanta & Prabala. Each group offers their soulful recordings for the meditation functions.

2017 marks the 10th Anniversary since Sri Chinmoy’s Mahasamadhi, and students from all over the world gathered to meditate and share moments of soulful beauty through musical performances, singing and playing arrangements and interpretations of Sri Chinmoy’s devotional songs.

Sri Chinmoy composed over 20,000 songs. Of these, around 13,000 were in Bengali and 7,000 in English. A vast majority of his songs are devotional in nature, and they have exquisite beauty and purity, surcharged as they are with a luminous and peaceful spiritual energy stemming from Sri Chinmoy’s meditations and deep states of consciousness achieved in them.

At the same time, as a poet, Sri Chinmoy identifies with the myriad of states of consciousness and experiences that we go through on our journey to the Goal, the achievement of oneness with the Highest. Both his love for God and humanity, plus humanity’s own feelings, are embodied in his songs. They are very conducive to prayer and meditation.

We hope you enjoy these spiritual offerings in the form of music, and that the beauty, sweetness and peacefulness of these musical interpretations may inspire you in your journey to the Infinite.
