Dear listeners, it is with great joy and pride that we present you with three performances of Paree Atkin’s arrangement of Sri Chinmoy‘s compositions, performed by a combination of local (NY) and international Sri Chinmoy students.
This is the sixth such performance since Sri Chinmoy’s passing on October 11, 2007.
The first of these three performances for August, 2010 was offered at Aspiration-Ground on August 27, 2010, on the occasion of Sri Chinmoy’s 79th Birthday. The following day, on August 28, 2010, two Songs of the Soul concerts were offered at the Skirball Theatre in New York City. This performance served as the finale for each concert. The Songs of the Soul concerts are offered worldwide as a tribute to Sri Chinmoy’s music and legacy. All these concerts are free of charge to the public.
During his lifetime, Sri Chinmoy offered almost 800 concerts of his soulful compositions. In these concerts he would sing and play a variety of instruments, including flute, esraj, cello, piano, organ and many others. In concert halls including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Royal Albert Hall, the Sydney Opera House and many others, Sri Chinmoy offered his music as a means to sharing moments of inner peace, beauty and harmony with the world at large.
Sri Chinmoy’s students gather twice a year in New York to celebrate his Birthday (August 27) and the Anniversary of his arrival in America (April 13). During these celebrations, students from all over the world gather to participate in collective meditations, concerts, plays, sports events and the World Harmony Run.
