This week we feature two stories by Sri Chinmoy about the very interesting cosmic god Lord Shiva, one of the Hindu Trinity. Shiva is the Lord of destruction and transformation and can appear at times to be very rough and not as polished as the other gods. He is adorned with snakes and his favorite place to be is the cremation ground. I hope you enjoy them.
How Shiva Got the Name Rudra
A story concerning the cosmic gods Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. One day Shiva appears before them and Shiva agrees to take birth as Brahmas son, even if it does end up taking a long time.
Krishna Prays to Have a Son
Lord Krishna was consumed with the desire to have a son and went to ask the advice of a sage. The sage advised him that only Lord Shiva could help him with this matter and so he clothed himself in the bark of a tree and began praying.
