Musical tribute to the United Nations’ 70th birthday

Last modified June 1, 2016

Sri Chinmoy students from the local NY area offer a musical tribute to the 70th anniversary of the United Nations (founded on October 24, 1945).

Dear listeners, it is with great joy that we offer you this 15-minute choral arrangement and interpretation of three songs by Sri Chinmoy in honour of the United Nations. The choral arrangements are by Paree Atkin.

Sri Chinmoy had a deep and genuine appreciation for the inner and outer role of the United Nations:

“The outer message of the United Nations is Peace. The inner message of the United Nations is Love. The inmost message of the United Nations is Oneness. Peace we feel. Love we become. Oneness we manifest.” Continue reading

Song 1 – United Nations — A Oneness-Radiance

United Nations, nations!
You are the world’s hope par excellence.
One body, one vital, one mind, one heart —
A oneness-radiance.

Song 2 – They Say

They say, U.N. is puny, weak and poor.
I say, have they measured its sky-heart door?
They say, feeble is the U.N. voice.
I say, U.N.our Father’s constant Choice.

Chandelier, Part 1

Song 3 – Our U.N. Soul

We know our U.N. soul
And its God-decreed role.
We know our U.N. life
That braves ignorance-knife.
We know our U.N. cry:
A quest for the oneness-sky.

Chandelier, Part 1
